Problem with F26 fedora repo?

Ed Greshko
Hi,

I've been seeing this now for the past 14hrs, or there about....

[root@f26-b14 yum.repos.d]# dnf clean metadata
Cache was expired
24 files removed
[root@f26-b14 yum.repos.d]# dnf check-update
Fedora 26 openh264 (From Cisco) - x86_64           2.2 kB/s | 2.8 kB
00:01
Fedora 26 - x86_64 - Test Updates                  2.3 MB/s |  24 MB
00:10
Fedora 26 - x86_64 - Updates                       450  B/s | 257  B
00:00
Error: Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'fedora'

Is there known problem with the repo currently?

I don't think so, and http://status.fedoraproject.org/ is green. What
mirror are you hitting?

I don't think so and it's mirrored out. I suspect you're in an area
where there's not a lot of country based mirrors (I've seen this in
some networks in Australia for example) and those mirrors aren't in
sync. There was some big updates gout our of late so some mirrors
might still be catching up.

What's the magic to expose what mirror I'm using?

Well....  I don't know what mirror it may be trying to contact.

If I do a dnf -d 9 check-update the last lines of output are

Cannot download
'https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-26&arch=x86_64': Cannot
download repomd.xml: Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml: All mirrors were tried.
Cleaning up.
Error: Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'fedora'

I've seen that if the date/time is wrong due to cert verification.
Also you can add &country=global to the end of the repo URL and see if
that works and it will return any mirror.

Sorry to respond again....  I think I mis-read the output seeing as it is late in my
day...

I think these are telling me the problem with all the mirrors being referenced...

Look in /var/log/dnf.librepo.log.

(There's an RFE for a dnf option to display this, but apparently it's
hard because it's really the lower-level library which knows the URL,
so there needs to be some way to hand the info back up.)

I guess the obvious next question is whether you can access that URL.

That hostname has ten IP4 addresses and five IP6 addresses and sadly DNF
doesn't tell you which actually addresses it's trying to contact.  It
really needs to have some way to give complete information about exactly
which host it is contacting and what the conversation looks like.  It's
not possible to tell if it's hitting one bad host and giving up, or if
there's some networking problem on the client end, or if the sun
imploded.  Guess I'll go search for upstream DNF bugs.

OK....   Thanks.   That got me going.  I can now install packages in the fedora repo
that haven't been updated since the beta release.
